LessonPlanner One is a general-purpose lesson-planning and instructional-design workspace. It is most useful if you plan lessons to a repeatable structure and then have to turn that plan into something you can actually teach from.

The problem it solves

Lesson planning usually ends up spread across a document for the plan, a deck for the class, a separate handout for learners and a list of sources somewhere else. Keeping those four things in step — through revisions, across terms — is where most of the time goes.

The plan, the slides, the worksheet and the citations are all parts of the same lesson file. Change the lesson once, then export the version each audience needs — a PDF for the record, a PowerPoint for the room, an HTML page for the LMS.

How it works

Four steps from lesson plan to teaching material

You can stop at any step. A plan on its own is a useful output; so is a full deck with worksheets and a reference list.

  1. Plan the lesson

    Sketch the shape of the class in the basic planner, or start straight from a BOPPPS-structured template. Set the topic, learners, duration and intended outcomes.

  2. Develop and refine the content

    Write the sections yourself, or generate a prompt from what you have entered and take it to the AI assistant you already use. Import the result, then edit, rewrite or delete any of it.

  3. Create the supporting materials

    Add slides, images, video and audio blocks, a worksheet for learners, and APA-style citations for the sources you used.

  4. Export or present

    Present from the full-screen view, or export to PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx) or HTML. Export JSON as your editable copy — it is how you back the lesson up and move it to another browser or device.

You edit everything. AI-assisted content arrives as ordinary lesson content — the same blocks you would have typed. Rewrite it, reorder it, or throw it out. Nothing is locked, and nothing is applied to your lesson without you importing it.

Instructor control

AI assists the educator. It does not replace educator judgment.

LessonPlanner One does not write your lesson for you and does not connect to an AI service on your behalf. Here is exactly what that means in practice.

  • AI assistance is optional. Every part of a lesson can be written by hand. The prompt generator and the LLM template workflow are tools you choose to open, not steps you have to pass through.
  • You choose the AI tool. The application prepares prompts and template files. You decide which assistant to use, what to paste into it, and what to bring back.
  • Imported content is validated, then editable. Completed JSON is checked against the lesson schema before it loads, and after that it behaves like any other content you wrote.

Before you teach from generated content

Generated material has not been reviewed by anyone. Treat it as a first draft and check it the way you would check a draft from any other source:

  • Accuracy. Verify facts, terminology, examples and any citation an assistant produced. AI tools can state incorrect things confidently.
  • Appropriateness. Check the level, tone and examples against your learners, your discipline and your institution’s expectations.
  • Accessibility. Add or correct image alt text, check colour contrast and reading order, and confirm the exported material meets your accessibility requirements.

LessonPlanner One does not check generated content for accuracy, and does not certify any export as accessible or standards-compliant. That review stays with you.

Your information

What happens to what you type in

A plain description of how the application handles lesson content today. It describes technical behaviour — it is not a legal privacy policy.

Lesson content and uploads

  • Lessons are saved in your browser’s local storage on the device you are using. There is no account, no server-side lesson database and no sync between devices.
  • Images and files you add are read in the browser and embedded directly in the lesson. They are not uploaded to a LessonPlanner One server.
  • Because storage is local, clearing site data, switching browsers or using a private window will remove your work. Export JSON regularly — that file is your backup.

What does leave your browser

  • AI requests. The application does not call an AI service. It produces prompt text and template files for you to take to an assistant of your choice. Anything you paste into a third-party AI tool is handled by that tool under its own terms — check them before pasting anything sensitive.
  • Video citation lookups. When you add a YouTube, Vimeo or Panopto video, that video’s URL is sent to a metadata service on this site, which asks the video platform for the title, author and publication date so the citation can be filled in.
  • Website analytics. This website uses Google Analytics to measure page traffic. Your lesson content is never part of that measurement.

What is LessonPlanner One?

LessonPlanner One is a browser-based workspace for planning, developing and delivering structured lessons. It brings together a BOPPPS lesson builder, a basic planner for quick outlining, an AI prompt generator, worksheet and media tools, APA-style citation support, and export options for PDF, PowerPoint, HTML and JSON.

Who is it designed for?

College and university instructors, instructional designers, faculty-development professionals, program coordinators, teachers who use structured lesson-planning methods, and anyone working with the BOPPPS framework.

Does it require an account?

No. There is no registration, sign-in or user profile. Open the application and start planning.

Is it free?

Yes. There is no purchase, subscription or licence step anywhere in the application, and no feature is held back behind a payment.

How is AI used?

AI assistance is optional and indirect. LessonPlanner One does not generate lesson content by itself and does not connect to an AI service. The AI Prompt Generator builds a structured prompt from the lesson details you enter, and the LLM workflow exports a blank lesson template plus a companion outline.

You take those to the AI assistant you already use, and import the completed JSON back into the application, where it is validated against the lesson schema before it loads.

Can AI suggestions be edited?

Yes. Once imported, generated content is ordinary lesson content — the same blocks you would have written yourself. You can rewrite it, restructure it, or delete it entirely. Nothing enters your lesson until you import it, and nothing is locked afterwards.

What can be exported?

PDF, PowerPoint (.pptx), HTML (full, slim and server-path variants) and JSON (full, slim and an LLM-stable form). Worksheets can also be printed on their own, separately from the rest of the lesson.

Where is information stored or processed?
